Skin Yeast Infection
Skin Yeast Infection is also called Cutaneous Yeast Infection. Skin is the largest organ of the body, and it is the most common type of Yeast Infection. Skin Yeast Infection covers all areas on the outside layer of the skin. It encompasses yeast infection of the scalp, hair, nails, folds of the skin (called Intertrigo), groin area, diaper area, genitals and feet.
Oral Yeast Infection
Oral Yeast Infection is also another type of skin infection, but it is of the mouth and throat. It is also called Mucocutaneous Yeast Infection. Some people know it as "Thrush." Oral Yeast Infection is very common, and for people with a compromised immunity, it may be one of the first signs of a more serious disorder.
Systemic Yeast Infection
Systemic Yeast Infections can affect any organ in the body. Usually, a person suffering from a systemic infection has a compromised immune system, or the skin has been penetrated. Systemic Yeast Infections are very serious and can travel by the bloodstream to the different organs of the body, producing organ failure. People with systemic infections usually have to be hospitalized for IV antifungal treatment to be sure the yeast infection is contained in one area.
Male Yeast Infection
Males can acquire yeast infections. These infections occur on the skin...(mainly Penile Yeast Infection), in the mouth, or can be systemic. Yeast Balanitis is an infection of the genital region that men can develop. Those at risk for Balanitis include males that are uncircumcised, men that do not practice good hygiene, the immunocompromised, and diabetics.
Female Yeast Infection
Women can get a Yeast Infection of the genital area, or Vaginal Yeast Infection, called Vulvovaginal Candidiasis. This type of infection produces a thick, white discharge, and is associated with itchy red lesions near the infected area. Some disorders, if not viewed closely or the signs and symptoms not recognized, can be mistaken for a Yeast Infection.
